Our Story



trilogy launched the world's first rosehip oil range into New Zealand and Australia in 2002. In a world of ‘high-science’ synthetic skincare and old-fashioned apothecary-style natural products, sisters and Trilogy founders Catherine de Groot and Sarah Gibbs (right) saw an opportunity to bridge the gap between performance and natural.

It was inspired by their discovery of the delicious, skin-loving properties of the golden oil extracted from rosehip seeds. An incredibly effective natural alternative to synthetic skincare ingredients, rosehip oil delivers real, visible results.

With two smart kiwi girls at the helm and pure, skin-loving Certified Organic Rosehip Oil as both flagship product and signature ingredient, Trilogy began its mission to change the face of natural skincare.


Good things come from hard work. We’ve spent over a decade building an international reputation for producing high-performance certified natural skincare. Building a meaningful business is not rocket science. It’s about being responsible with every choice we make. Everyone needs an ‘ology’. Sisterology is a way of looking at the world and a phrase we coined to describe our approach to skincare and, heck, life itself. It’s about making connections, keeping people at the centre and having each other’s backs.
 
Sisterology guides how we think when we’re thinking about you. We believe our customers are amazing everyday women, who - like us - want to live beautiful, not complicated, lives. We know you’re looking for products you can feel good about buying. And that you expect your skincare to work as hard as you do.



No Animal Testing

Beauty is as beauty does. From the very beginning, animal testing has been off the cards entirely. Trilogy is a Choose Cruelty Free accredited company. We do not test our ingredients, product prototypes or finished products on animals and we work closely with our ingredient suppliers to ensure they are aware of our company values and policies.



Giving back

Supporting and being involved in our local communities and causes we believe in is an important part of Trilogy’s culture. Whether it’s a charity, community event, play group or school activity, we like to help wherever we can.
Like you, we’re passionate about the environment, mad about animals and we like to do as much as we can in areas of humanitarian need. We’re proud to support many not-for-profit organizations across the globe. We're long-time supporters of the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation and we’ve donated over NZ$53,000 to help preserve orangutan habitats.

Natural & organic certification

trilogy is the first New Zealand skincare brand to achieve NATRUE Natural Cosmetics Certification.The NATRUE standard offers an independent guarantee. When you see this logo, you know what you’re buying is authentically natural and cruelty-free, to one of the world’s most transparent standards.
The NATRUE logo means only natural and organic ingredients, soft manufacturing processes and environmentally friendly practices are used in the making of our products. It also tells you what things are not used.



BioGro Organic Certification

“Organic” is another word that gets bandied around a lot. We only use 'organic' to describe ingredients and finished products which are certified as such by a recognised third party accreditation body. Without certification, we believe calling a product or ingredient 'organic' can be misleading for people trying to make informed decisions about what they choose.
 
Certified Organic Rosehip Oil and Rosehip Oil Antioxidant+ are certified organic by BioGro New Zealand Ltd, the country’s leading organic certifier, which has been at the forefront of commercial organics since it was founded 28 years ago. BioGro is also the only Australasian certification body accredited to certify products under NATRUE.
